My name is Riki. I am Syrian, born in Dubai, and proud to be both Dutch and Syrian. I came to Zaandam more than ten years ago. This city chose me, and I chose it right back.
Mijn naam is Riki. Ik ben Syrisch, geboren in Dubai, en trots op mijn Nederlandse en Syrische kant. Ruim tien jaar geleden kwam ik naar Zaandam. Deze stad koos mij, en ik koos haar terug.

I am a professional dancer with years of experience teaching urban dance across the Zaan region. Together with dancers from the region, I co-founded Back to the Street, an urban dance event in Zaandam that brings hundreds of dancers and spectators to the streets every summer.
Ik ben een professionele danser met jaren ervaring in het lesgeven van urban dance in de Zaan regio. Samen met dansers uit de regio heb ik Back to the Street opgezet, een urban dance evenement in Zaandam dat elke zomer honderden dansers en toeschouwers de straat op brengt.
I'm a developer, and I built GoZaanstad on my own, from the database to the windmill turning on the homepage. I built it to share the places and events I recommend to people here.
Ik ben developer en heb GoZaanstad helemaal zelf gebouwd, van de database tot de draaiende molen op de homepage. Ik heb het gemaakt om de plekken en evenementen te delen die ik mensen hier aanraad.

I wanted something that helps you decide what to do, find it, get there, experience it, review it, save it, discover what is around the corner and plan the rest of your day. A city in your pocket, built by someone who walks these streets every day.
Zaanstad heeft een officiële gids die vertelt wat er is. Ik wilde iets dat je helpt kiezen wat je gaat doen, het te vinden, er te komen, het te beleven, te beoordelen, te bewaren, te ontdekken wat er om de hoek is en de rest van je dag te plannen. Een stad in je broekzak, gemaakt door iemand die hier elke dag door de straten loopt.

The urban dance event Riki co-founded in Zaandam. Every summer in the heart of the city: battles, workshops and live beats, and hundreds of people on the street who came for the dance and stayed for the city.
